Taming Lights and Bytes

Fall is always a great time to get some family photos done. The colors are warm and the temperature is usually pleasant and cool. This session was held at George Rogers Clark Park in Springfield, Ohio. The park is about a 15 minute car ride from Dayton and about 30 minutes from the west side of Columbus. The park has several structures that are similar to their original counterparts from this historical battle site. There is also a nice sized pond with an interesting spillway. The spillway tumbles down a levee to a few more shelters. There is lots of open space and plenty of locations to do some great photos.
This shoot was made on a Nikon D5000 with an 85mm 1.8G Nikkor lens or the kit 18-55mm. I had just received this lens when I did this shoot. I really liked how the 85mm’s backgrounds blew totally out and melted all the fall colors into an abstract buttery blend. I used the 85mm for everything except the whole family shot. We took those shots inside of a little skinning hut. There was not enough room to use the 85mm with all the tables inside the structure.
I am also currently looking for moms and daughters, makeup artists, and designers or stylists for an upcoming project. If you want to take part, or know someone who may be interested please go to the contact page. Fill out the form and leave a comment about this project. You can also drop a comment below. Another way is to leave an update on my Facebook Page. I will try to get back to you asap. This will be a project that will capture the essence of each individual set of mother and daughter(s). The makeup artist will be key in getting this project started. So far I have talked to only one person who has been interested in this position. It is an excellent opportunity for up and coming MUAs to get free prints/images added to their portfolio. Spread the word.
